Especially when you become e-5 and above it is difficult trying to manage time meet deadlines and prioritize which tasks need to be done. Supply specialist is challenging sometimes because you are expected to know things even if you wasn’t taught it. I got injured in basic and was on crutches so I ended up getting reclassified from 68d to 92y. The mos is a bit challenging but worth it because you take an exam at the end an get certified that will translate to the civilan world. They handle sick call in the morning and most of the time they don’t get to do your job. Most 68w is attached to a regular unit and works at a clinic in rotation. if you are interested in actively working in a hospital 68D is more hands on in a hospital then 68w. Clean the operating room before and after etc. Learn basic sutures, hand the surgeon the instruments they need. You sterilized instruments before and after surgery, transport patients, scrub in on surgeries. You are basically a surgical assistant and work at hospital with patients. My first mos was 68D operating room specialist. I'm not super worried about missing school, I just want to know if it's worth it. I'm only worried because the AIT is longer and if it goes beyond January I'll miss two semesters of school. I've heard it's basically EMT certification. I'm definitely interested in Health Care Specialist because I can get a career with it once my contract is over. Would I still work this job or transfer completely to ROTC stuff? If I don't choose to do the ROTC would I regret picking this job? I've heard it's boring/frustrating. WHat my recruiter is telling me to do is do this MOS, go to school and start the ROTC program. If I do unit supply then I'll definitely be back for school and I'll get a bonus. The two jobs I'm most interested in is Health Care specialist (68W) and Unit Supply Specialist (92Y). What are the chances I can fit it into this slot? I'm going to college and I'll have to defer it till Spring semester, which means I need Basic and AIT to happen between July and December. I'm considering joining Utah National Guard and I'm looking at the MOS.
